Bible Reading Sheet

Bible Reading Sheet

What a wonderful thing it is to be able to read God’s word!

Yet sometimes reading plans turn what should be a joy for God’s people into a burden and a guilt. Does this sound familiar to you?

  • You decide to read through the Bible.
  • You pick your plan, whether that’s reading 3 chapters a day from Genesis-Revelation, reading chronologically, or something else.
  • You get started.
  • Initially it goes well.
  • Then you get sick, forget a day, or something else happens and you fall behind.
  • Now to catch up, you need to do extra…which makes it all that much harder to do.
  • So you fall further behind and feel more and more guilty.
  • Eventually, you give up.

That has been my experience in the past. I know that for some people, having deadlines and assigned passages each day can be helpful, but for many of us they are more likely to become a source of guilt and a burden which will eventually cause us to give up entirely.

That is why I made this no-guilt Bible Reading Sheet. It’s just a list of each book of the Bible with their chapter numbers, and you highlight each chapter as you finish. Using this there is no “getting behind” and rather you are just encouraged to keep on making forward progress as you visually see more and more chapters get highlighted.
